Playing Games
Thursday, October 11, 2012 • Posted October 11, 2012

Do you enjoy game shows? Some of them are interesting to watch. Some of them have also been around for years. One of these is the Wheel of Fortune. Indeed, some have won a small fortune by playing a game for about twenty minutes. Those who play "Wheel" win money, prizes from different companies, occasionally a car, and trips that they could probably never afford. The thing to remember is that it is a game. If they win, and win big, okay. If they do not win, they still haven't lost anything. It doesn't cost them to play the game (at least I don't know of any cost). I do believe if they win they will pay taxes on their winnings to the IRS. This would be the only cost.In life we do not play games. In life we can lose some things that may be dear to us. For instance, by playing around one could destroy their marriage. By a moment of sin, a family is torn apart; and healing, if it ever happens, takes a long time.In life we could lose our jobs. By playing around and not doing the work that has been assigned to us, we lose our means of providing for our families and for ourselves. In life if we play around we can lose our soul. Jesus said in Matthew 16:26, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" The games we play can cause us to stray away from our first love, Jesus Christ. Sometimes we play certain games to relax. If we allow these games to take us away from what is truly important, they profit us nothing.Jesus came to show us how to live life and live it to the fullest. By putting our trust and faith in Him, we will never fail. By playing around, we will never succeed. Is life real to you or is it just a game?
