Cherokee ISD Information for 2008-2009 School Year

The first day of school will be August 25th. Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and dismiss at 3:12 p.m.

If you have a child age four or five, he/she may be eligible for Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten. If you feel your child may qualify for Pre-Kindergarten, please call the school at (325) 622-4298. Kindergarten will be all day all year.

REGISTRATION for kindergarten students will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14th. REGISTRATION for all other NEW students will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the same day. These students will need to bring their birth certificate, social security card and immunization record. New students should also bring their last report card and check out sheet from the previous school.

All high school students should come by the principal’s office on Thursday, August 14th, to set up their class schedules, according to the following time schedule:

Seniors 9:00-10:30 a.m. Sophomores 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Juniors 9:30-10:30 a.m. Freshmen 10:30-11:30 a.m.

5. The school will not be purchasing insurance for the students. Insurance will be available if you would like to purchase it for your child. The insurance information will be sent home with your child on the first day of school.

6. The meal prices for this school year are as follows:

Extra milk $ .40

(One milk is served with each meal)

Breakfast:

Reduced .30

Regular 1.65

Adult 1.65

Lunch:

Reduced (all grades) .40

Regular elementary 2.70

Regular high school 2.70

Adult (school staff) 2.70

Adult (not school staff) 3.25

Guest child 3.00

Tea (without a meal) .25

Extra milks are to be paid for when received. If you wish to apply for meal benefits, the teachers will send an application home to each family on the first day of school. Applications are due back in the office as quickly as possible, since they become effective on the date they are received in the office.
