Not wishing anyone bad news, but sure hope the hurricane that is in the Gulf will bring us some relief from the heat and dry conditions that exist. Next week there just may be some report of rain over the county.

At last report Monday at noon the storm was to hit Galveston Tuesday or Wednesday and residents there were told to fill gas tanks and be prepared for the storm.

Dennis Scroggins recently spent some time in Arizona at a church retreat. He was accompanied by some of his children and grandchildren. The family spends some time there every year.

Last week members of the Clark family drove to Granbury to visit their sister Monty Arms who has some medical issues. The family members spent the day with her catching up on all the family news.

Jim, Patty, and Thomas Caughman of Houston spent the weekend with the Price family. They couldn’t believe how dry and hot it was and if you could believe it they were anxious to return to Houston and all that noise and traffic in order to get away from the heat.

The home of R.J. and Patsy Henniger was overflowing with family members Sunday. A dinner was held in their home to celebrate the visit of Mary Pike of Midland, Johnnie Keeney of Lubbock, and Nancy Hicks of Alvarado.
