Local couple to celebrate Golden anniversary

On August 8, 2008, Raymond "Corky" and Velma Poe will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married August 8, 1958 in San Saba, Texas.

Corky and Velma have three children, two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson. Their children are Kim Wells and husband, Joseph, of San Saba; Kelli Hubbard and husband, Bill, of Zephyr; and Mike Poe and wife, Tina, of Richland Springs. Grandchildren are John Poe and wife, Christan; and Winston Poe. Step-grandchildren are Brad Hubbard and wife, Hailie; Todd Hubbard and wife, Anita; and Ryan Hubbard. Their step-great-grandson is Bentley Hubbard.

Raymond drove the Foremost milk truck for many years and later worked for Sheppard Funeral Home. He is a retired member of the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department. Velma worked at Eventide Nursing Home for many years and later worked for Aramark at TYC.

Together Corky and Velma have shared many joys, including spending time at the farm taking care of the livestock and garden; traveling to many places with family and friends; and cherishing the times spent with their children and grandchildren.
