The rain did come once again dropping two and one-half inches of rain starting Friday night and on and off all day Saturday. Below Bend reports of one and one-half inch fell and over by Lometa four inches was reported. This rain was very beneficial to lots of different parts of Texas that was in dire need of moisture. Midland and the Big Spring area being one of the worst stricken drought areas got some much needed moisture Friday. It could have stuck around longer, but we won’t complain too much, because there still maybe a chance of more to come.

Jamie Houdyshell celebrated her birthday Sunday in the home of parents’ William and Jane Clark along with her sons’ Andrew and A.J. and sister and brother-in- law Doug Messer and their children Jordan and Jaylee of Lampasas.

Jane Clark and LaNell Daniels spent the day in Killeen Wednesday shopping at Lowe’s and Hobby Lobby and after shopping dined at the Olive Garden before returning home.

The presentation of Greater Tuna by the Lometa Garden Club was a great success. It was a sell out for the dinner Saturday night on September 29, and only good comments were heard from the crowd.. Three-hundred tickets

were sold. Several people from the Bend attended the dinner and several more will attend the matinee on Sunday. Lewvon Hicks worked with the food preparation and serving. She will attend the matinee Saturday and hopes that

all goes well enough that she can see the play.

Lesa Preece reported that she just returned Sunday from a seven day cruise she took with Brenda Smithhart Wilde, Thomas and Sheila Smithhart, Francis Herring-ton, Shirley Dickison and Judy Smithhart. They went to Montego Bay Jamaica, Grand Caymen Islands and Cozumel Mexico. They saw lots of pretty beaches and beautiful clear blue water. She reported that they all ate too

much food on board the cruise ship and overall had a good time. The weather was perfect.

The bridal shower held at the Bend Methodist church for their pastor Celia Kitchens and her fiancee Matt Halfacre went of Sunday afternoon as reported.

Jackie and Charlene Brister was in Lometa Saturday to attend the Greater Tuna and steak supper. She reported that they had a wonderful time, the steak supper and the play were very enjoyable.

Happy birthday greeting goes out to Jason Hendrick who will celebrate a birthday October 5, to Raymond Hicks, Joshua Anderson and Keith Lemons who

will celebrate a birthday October 8, to Carol Rockafellow who will celebrate her birthday October 9.

Congratulations go out to Tommy and Mitzse Pulate who will celebrate an anniversary October 11.
