Is it True?

It is amazing that people trust in someone, not because of the issues one takes, but because they are prejudiced toward a certain person.

This past week I heard a man interviewing people on the street who were going to vote for a certain candidate in the upcoming election. They were asked questions that were full of errors and they never realized what they were saying. Some people who were not even running for office were thought of as if they were. Different positions one took and even running mates were given and they never knew what was going on. They have a choice and they will make it as they want to and do not have all the facts behind them. Needless to say I had a very good laugh at their expense.

But it was sad at the same time. As Christians we are to listen to the Word of God and make all of our decisions based upon what it teaches and not what we might suppose it says. For instance, what was the fruit that Eve gave to Adam? How many wise men went to see Jesus? Can you find the Scripture that tells us it was an apple? Do you know where to find that there were three wise men mentioned? Let me know when you find these, please.

Listening to the Word of God is important for each of us. Making sure we do not abuse it is equally important. Listen to John as he writes in the book of Revelation, "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." 22:18-19 (NASB)

This means that it is important to know what God is saying. It is good to know that we have all of our facts correct as we discuss the Bible.

When we are talking about politics, the weather, or any other topic, we do not have this admonition. When it comes to the message God has delivered to us, we must know. Let's make sure that we read our Bibles. Let's study them to know what God desires of us. Let's be accurate as we discuss important topics found in the pages of Scripture. As we do we will all benefit from it. We will know God's will and will try to live it in our lives.
