Max Dane Mahan

Max Dane Mahan, age 79, of San Saba, died peacefully at his home on September 30, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at San Saba’s First Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Mahan Ranch.

Max was born on December 28, 1932 in Goldthwaite,Texas to Rex & Pauline Mahan. He was loved and admired for his kind, warm, enthusiastic spirit.

Max was a successful rancher, farmer and businessman. He was most noted for his business successes at San Saba Ford Tractor Company and Max Mahan Company Trucking. Max found his greatest joys in spending time with family and friends, hunting trips to Colorado, and spending time on his ranch. He was a member of San Saba’s First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Dane Mahan and wife, Shelly of San Saba; daughter Kim Hamrick and husband, Lynn, of San Saba; Grandchildren Shayna Stewart and husband Sean of Katy, TX, Kami Pipes and husband Donny of Salado, TX, Colby Dane Mahan of Houston, TX, Lacey Clifton and husband Ryon of Belton, TX, and Laramie Ratto and husband Cade of Brownwood, TX; Great-Grandchildren Landon Stewart, Brysan Max Pipes and Rook Clifton; Brothers Rex Mahan, Jr. of Coleman, TX and Weldon Mahan of Brownwood, TX; his very best friend Betty Ann Johnson of San Saba and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Dana Warren Mahan.

Memorial donations may be made to the San Saba EMS, San Saba First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
