2nd Annual Pecan Jam offers amazing lineup of entertainment

On October 20, Risien Park gates will open at 10:00 a.m., and the music starts at 10:30 and goes non-stop till it is over around 11 p.m. There will be fewer bands this year, but they will each play half an hour longer. And what a selection!10:30 a.m. Mike Blakely, award winning Texas singer/songwriter12:00 p.m. Lost Pines Bluegrass, playing top-notch bluegrass.1:30 p.m. Ruby Jane, a teenage musical phenomenon, playing guitar & violin.3:00 p.m. The Moonlites, an acappella 50’s Doo-Wop group4:00 p.m. Our next Pecan Queen will be crowned on stage4:30 p.m. Classie Ballou, a zydeco pioneer6:00 p.m. Tommy Alverson, Texas Country music7:30 p.m. Six Market Blvd, blending Country, Americana, Rock & Roll9:00 p.m. Jason Boland & the Stragglers, American Texas Country/Red DirtThe Pecan Emporium will feature local pecan retailers, Alamo Pecan, Oliver Pecan, San Saba Pecan and the Great San Saba River Pecan Company. Stop by for pecan coffee and scrumptious gourmet pecan treats.The Wine Garden will open at 11 a.m. Entrance fee is $15. You will be given a souvenir Pecan Jam wine glass and seven free tastes. After which, you may purchase wine by the glass or by the bottle. New this year, the Chamber of Commerce will sell cheese, meat and fruit plates to accompany your wine tasting. There are eleven boutique Texas vintners pouring for you this year: San Saba’s own Wedding Oak Winery; and Pontotoc Vineyards, just barely in Mason County, will be joining Alamosa Wine Cellars from the Bend, Brennan Vineyards from Comanche, Fiesta Winery from the Bend, Perissos Vineyards from Burnet, Pillar Bluff Vineyards and Texas Legato Winery from Lampasas, Sandstone Cellars from Mason, Spicewood Vineyards from Spicewood, and William Chris Vineyards from Hye.The Enchanted Orchard is back with entertainment for kids including games, bounce houses, face painting, and pony rides. There will be vendors lining the main park offering food and an array of unique products.Don’t forget to pick up your Adult Pecan Jam tickets for $15 at Harry’s, Chamber of Commerce, or at City Hall, available now through Oct 13th. Limit two adult tickets, cash or checks only. At the gate, Adult tickets will be $20. Tickets for children under 18 are $5 whether purchased early or at the gate.If you are interesting in being a Pecan Jam volunteer, we can always use more volunteers.
