Teamwork proves to be the difference for the Little Dillos
Thursday, September 27, 2012 • Posted September 27, 2012

The 3rd and 4th grade Little Dillos discovered what teamwork is all about this week versus Burnet as they won 19-6 against a pesky Bulldog defense. Two starters on offense and two starters on defense fell ill at gametime and did not play this week, which created a great opportunity for other players to step into starting rolls and pick up an important victory. The Little Dillos effectively moved the ball up and down the field behind a very good performance from the offensive line including Bladen Riggs, Austin Smith, Johnny Meador, Landin Short, Ty Robertson, James Carlisle, Brighton Adams, Kylar Menchaca, and Polo Davila. Christian Van Bibber stepped in at fullback and Wesley Lackey stepped in at running back for Ross McCoury and Logan Glover. An excellent push from our offensive line led to running room for Ryan Mathis, Risien Shahan, and Wesley Lackey behind the blocking of Van Bibber. Mathis scored rushing touchdowns from 15 yards, 3 yards, and 40 yards as the Little Dillos finished the day with over 200 yards rushing; including 114 yards from Mathis, 75 yards from Shahan, and 51 yards from Lackey. The Little Dillos defense was stiff after an initial scoring touchdown drive by the Bulldogs with Timothy Krueger and Brighton Adams playing very well on the corners. Our defense also played very well as a unit, with Bladen Riggs at defensive tackle and Wesley Lackey at safety leading the charge with tackles. Lackey was extremely excited to find a 4 inch streak of green on his white helmet after play ended from the Burnet Bulldogs this week! This Saturday’s game is at 11:00am in Llano versus the Johnson City Eagles. If you are able, come on over and join the support for our Little Dillos!
