We have now spent four weeks in school and things are off to a great start. I am excited by how well your kids have represented this community and themselves so far. I have been truly impressed by their behavior and work ethic. It would be a little optimistic for me to believe that the rest of the year will go this well, but a man can dream. If the kids continue to make good choices then I believe this will be one of the best years San Saba High School has had in quite a while. We have several new teachers this year as well as many familiar faces. All of our teachers are working hard and taking the steps necessary to ensure that your kids are receiving the best education possible. Your children truly are in good hands, and I am personally excited that my daughters will be taught by many of these teachers over the next few years. These teachers are truly excellent. The biggest concern I have so far is attendance. If students are not present they cannot learn. Also, a significant part of our funding comes from the attendance on each day school is open. One of the easiest ways that you can help is with that is to remember that if a student is going to the doctor [dentist/ optometrist/DMV] and they are here through the end of second period and bring the appropriate note with them when they return to school, we get to count them in attendance for the day. If a student is out in the morning and they return to school with the proper note, we also get to count them. If you have questions about this please call my office. My goal for the year is 95% attendance. I recently held an assembly to talk about how important attendance is and promised some rewards if our students meet certain criteria.Monday October 15th @ 6 PM we will host our Parent Academy. This will be a chance for you to come up and meet our staff and see how we are adjusting our teaching strategies to meet the changing needs of our students. I believe that this will be worth your time and encourage you to come out. This was previously scheduled for the 16th so please note the date change. We will have pep-rallies for the remainder of all varsity games on Friday afternoons. They will start at 3:10 each week. We will open the doors for seating around 3 PM. If you have questions please feel free to call my office.Go Dillos
