Sara Hedley awarded TILF Scholarship

Sara Elizabeth Hedley, a graduate of Richland Springs High School, has been awarded a scholarship by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.Hedley received the Nike Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, payable the first year of higher education. The Nike Scholarships are awarded to students who have participated in the University Interscholastic League Academic State Meet and who have compiled an outstanding record of academic and extracurricular achievement.This year the TILF awarded 464 new scholarships and will renew approximately 163 multi-year awards for a total of 627 scholarships being distributed during the 2012-13 academic year, with a value of nearly $1.1 million. Recipients must attend any approved college or university in Texas.Hedley competed in the Lincoln Douglas debate at the 2012 UIL Academic State Meet where she placed third individually.She also competed in UIL one-act play, current issues, persuasive speaking, and editorial writing.
