Kenneth Powell, 61, of Richland Springs, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, in Brownwood. Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Richland Springs Cemetery. Visitation and meal followed after the service at the First Baptist Church of Richland Springs.Kenneth Wayne Powell was born in Brady, Texas, to Wayne and Gladys Powell on December 5, 1950. He grew up in Richland Springs but moved where work took him. He has lived in Richland Springs since 2002. On October 3, 2003, he married Velita Smith. He was a member of the Holt Baptist Church. If there was anything Kenneth enjoyed, it was a good conversation. He enjoyed visiting with other people and working. Kenneth drove trucks in several countries throughout the world.Survivors include his wife, Velita Smith; son, Pete Powell of Goldthwaite; daughter, Kimberly Polk and husband, Hulon, of Houston; stepsons, Jonathon Smith and wife, Sharla, of Woodland Park, Co. and Lloyd Smith and wife, Yanira, of Amarillo; grandchildren, Laci Jessup, Shayla Jessup, Peyton Polk, Mykala Polk and Kaitlyn Smith; great-grandchildren, A.J. Harris and Spur Allen Davis; parents, Wayne and Gladys Powell of Holt; and one sister, Kay McKee and husband, Gerald, of Richland Springs.Bro. Barry Fikes officiated the service. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Bates, Peyton Polk, Jamie Moore, Michael Maxcey, Lee Miller, John Mask, Monty Buttler, and Ted Braja.
