San Saba Garden Club's September Yard of the Month
Thursday, September 27, 2012 • Posted September 27, 2012

Ken and Kynda Jordan of 2409 West Commerce Street are the owners of the Yard of the Month for September as announced by the San Saba Garden Club. Kynda says, “It is an honor to receive this award because Ken and I both really love to be out in our yard enjoying the surroundings. And of course we have a lot of help from Patricio Rodriguez, local landscaper.”The couple, along with their two older girls, Karoline and Kristin, moved into their house in August 1995 and the work began. Early spring of 2006 they redesigned the yard and increased the size of the back yard. At that time they chose to use a lot more native plants like Gaura, Texas Sotol, Texas Sage, Texas Persimmon and a number of different native grasses. The backyard arbor, which is covered with Lady Banksias Rose, is Ken and Kynda’s favorite place to unwind and watch the kids swim. Kynda still likes to have a number of noticeable color spots where she likes to plant annuals to get the feel of the current season. She says, “Our girls have played a big role in helping us keep new plants wet during the hot summer months.” Many pretty yards have been enjoyed by those of us in San Saba this past spring and now summer season. We all just hope to get some nourishing rains to replenish the freshness! The Garden Club hopes everyone gets a chance to go by and see the September Yard of the Month!
