The Parent Academy will be on two different nights in October to help accommodate parents that have students on an elementary campus and secondary campus. Currently, campuses are working on a schedule for these evenings. Middle School and High School Parent Academy: Tuesday, October 16, 2012Elementary Parent Academy: Monday, October 22, 2012Times are still to be determined. Last year’s event was a great success. There are many great opportunities in San Saba ISD, and the Parent Academy is a wonderful event to come find out what is happening in San Saba ISD. Information about the Title I program, Literacy Grant, AVID, PALS, and new Advanced Placement Classes are just a few things that will be shared. Stay posted for more information. Assessment Data Parents, if your child was in grades 3-11 last school year, you should have received test result information. Due to the STAAR being a new state assessment, the passing standards were not set for grades 3-8. The passing standards will not be set until January of 2013; however, San Saba ISD was able to print reports that showed a raw score and percentage score. As the letter stated, you must disregard the “Did Not Meet Mastery” on your child’s score report because there is no real standard set. We knew this might lead to some confusion, but we wanted to share with you the information we have received. You will receive more information as it becomes accessible from the state. High School End of Course Exams standards were set and communicated with parents at the end of last year. Parents, if you have a question or concern about anything relating with state assessment, please contact your child’s campus principal, counselor or Michael Bohensky, (325) 372-3771.
