High school classes held class meetings and elected class officers for the school year. Freshman class sponsors Valerie Gossett and Paula Miller noted that the freshman class elected Nathan Allen (Pres.), Nash Moore (VicePres.), Elizabeth Avila (Sec.), and Bryan Salinas (Treas.). Sophomore class sponsor Michael Brand noted that the sophomore class elected Storm Teel (Pres./Treas.) and Jacob Cohn (Vice. Pres./Treas.). Junior class sponsor Krystal Butler noted that the junior class elected Melanie Hedley (Pres.), Brooke Vaughn (VicePres.), DeAnna Grady (Sec.), and Brianna Bradley (Treas.). Senior class sponsor Nelson Smith noted that the senior class elected Jonathon Patino (Pres.), Patrick Phillips (V.P.), Chris Munoz (Sec.), and Gunner Mann (Treas.).The junior high football team was victorious in their first outing against Cherokee last Thursday by a score of 54-6. The junior high cheerleaders, Jacey Gossett, Kamree Lewis, Berkeley Mann, Adrienne Benson, and Paige Sloan performed at halftime. Junior high cheerleader sponsor is Bonnie Burkhart. The junior high team travels to Gustine on Thursday, September 20, for a 6:00 p.m. game. Come out and support our young athletes, you won’t be disappointed.The varsity players wrapped up their third consecutive victory against Cherokee in a convincing manner on Friday by a score of 70-6. The varsity cheerleaders, Hailee Ashworth, Brittany Bush, Lexus Neal, Bralei Lewis, DeAnna Grady, Melanie Hedley, and Remy Wood performed at halftime. Varsity cheerleader sponsor is Sherri Ashworth. The Howlin’ Coyotes did a great job making noise at the pep rallies and games! Congratulations to all the students on a great effort! The varsity Coyotes will host the Gustine Tigers at Coyote Field at 7:30 on Friday, September 21.The 4H Club is now organized and active. The first 4H meeting was held on Wednesday, September 12th. 4H officers are Brooklyn McGinty (Pres.), Jordan Gossett (VPres.), Chandler Lusty (2nd VPres.), Berkeley Mann (Reporter), Kamree Lewis (Council Delegate), Chase Gossett (Council Delegate), Jacey Gossett (Secretary), and Landon Burkhart (Treas.). A special thanks to Valerie Gossett, Paula Miller, and Carolyn McDowell for providing worthwhile after-school activities for our youth. 4H provides positive youth development for our students. Did you know that youth engaged with 4H are:•Nearly two times more likely to get better grades in school; •Nearly two times more likely to plan to go to college; •41 percent less likely to engage in risky behaviors; and •25 percent more likely to positively contribute to their families and communities.We have a great community, students, teachers and staff.
