Receipts totaled 2077 on Thursday with no sale being held in Mason on Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday. The tone on Thursday was very strong on a choice offering of calves and yearlings along with a large number of weaned cattle which were in high demand. The stocker steers and heifers sold steady to $2.00 higher after last week’s $15.00-$20.00 increase. We still saw some 300 weights in the $220.00-$240.00 range and a draft of 14 steers weighing 406 at $202.00 and sold some 500 weights up to $164.00. The feeder steers sold $3.00 higher with some weaned deals of steers weighing 610 to 650 selling for $145.00 to $147.50. The feeder heifers were steady to $2.00 higher with some of the replacement heifers bringing $5.00-$8.00 higher with one string of 14 head weighing 590 bringing $143.00 and a set of 9 head weighing 662 at $134.00. Packer cows were steady and bulls were $1.00 higher with the top bull at $107.50.
