Stripes celebrates kickoff of 4-H fundraising campaign

WHAT: Stripes Convenience Stores kicked off its 3rd annual 4-H fundraising campaign on Monday, September 3rd, 2012. The 4-H and Youth Development Program is a recognized leader in developing life skills, empowering youth and volunteers, and facilitating effective partnerships to create capable and responsible citizens.WHY:• As part of its commitment to children’s health and education programs, Stripes is proud to support the 4-H program and hopes this year will be the biggest fundraising year to date, with a goal of over $200,000 for the nation’s largest youth development organization.• This fundraising effort, known as “Helping Today’s Kids Become Tomorrow’s Leaders,” has raised over $210,000 for the organization in its first two years.• All proceeds from this campaign are donated to the local county 4-H program in the city where the donation was made so when customers are able to help local kids each time they purchase a 4-H clover at their local Stripes.• The 4-H program is part of the AgriLife Extension Service and is offered to both rural and urban youth ages 5-18 in all 254 Texas counties. Currently, there are more than 62,000 4-H club members statewide, with more than 650,000 Texas youth participating in 4-H and youth development programs and activities annually. 4-H offers programs and activities related to science, technology, health, nutrition, communications, photography, agriculture, leadership, citizenship, character development and more.• When customers participate in the 4-H fundraising mobile campaign, they not only donate to a worthy cause, but also receive a coupon for a FREE 12 oz.
