Academic Booster Club 2011-2012 year in review
Thursday, September 6, 2012 • Posted September 6, 2012

The Academic Booster Club of San Saba High School got off to a strong start their first year. A small group of parents were recruited to brainstorm needs, goals and activities for the group. The membership was open to interested businesses, families and individuals. The monies raised the first year were used to support the school, teachers and students in “Encouraging Academic Excellence”. At the end of each nine week grading period, students with an average of 4.2 or above, along with two students from each grade who showed extra effort for the nine weeks were rewarded with a hamburger luncheon served by the ABC. The High School faculty and staff were also honored at these luncheons. Another incentive at the end of each nine weeks was the “Every A” drawing. Students were given a ticket for every “A” they made and then two tickets per grade were drawn. The 8 students were rewarded with meals from several local restaurants including Larry’s Corner Cafe, Gage’s and The Auction Barn. An overall prize of an I-pod touch was given to the lucky ticket winner at the end of the academic year. The Academic Booster Club raised money for their scholarships and activities by holding hamburger sales, a membership drive and a Powder Puff Football Game. ABC members were proud to be able to award two $800.00 scholarships. One was presented to Valedictorian, Lauren Dawson, and the other to Dominic Rosales. Both of these deserving young people exemplified academic excellence and are planning college careers. Our organization is looking forward to another successful year. This year Business memberships will be $50, Family memberships will be $20 and you get a “FREE” ABC Decal, Individual membership is $10 and you also get a free decal.!! Anyone wanting to volunteer can also get a free decal or ABC t-shirt! We appreciate your continued support.
