The weather is still hot and dry with maybe a chance of rain and cool-er temps the end of this week. The heat has not kept the dove hunters away and there seem to be plenty of them around.This Labor Day was no holiday for the school kids and not for some people who still had things to do. Oh, well such is life! Just pray for rain as it is so badly needed.Friday William, Jane Clark along with Kristi was in San Antonio at the Garden Heights for a wedding. Kristi was the bride’s maid and William per-formed the ceremony Saturday for Megan Kenney and Efrain Agurre. Megan is the daughter of Carrie-wayne and the late Toney Keeney. Kristi was the bride’s maid and Carriwayne’s sons Tracey and Stacey Keeney walked Megan into the church, her two daughters’ two and five years old were the flower girls and her son Kanton was the ring bearer. Efrain’s brother was the best man.Nancy Hicks and her daughter Jackie from Alvarado attended the wedding and Mary Pike’s daughter Cindy and her husband Clint Parker of Midland also attended as did Doug Messer and his children Jordan and Jaylee.Jane reported that her son Bobby Clark, Colten Wallace and his two sons, Lew and Colton of Round Rock; Boyd and his two sons, Eli and Silas of Lubbock were also in to hunt for dove.Jamie Houdyshell and son’s Andrew and A.J. spent the Labor Day weekend in New Mexico visiting relatives.Pat and Bonnie Millican just returned from a trip to South Carolina where they visited her family. It was wonderful there, lots of cool weather and green grass and flowers and best of all rain. When they left to return to Texas bands of showers from Isaac was just beginning to come in. Bonnie reported it was the fastest seven days of the year.Sunday the annual Baxter Reunion was held at the Bend Methodist Church.There were around 48 kinfolks that attended. There were great food, fun and fellowship. Families came from Amarillo, San Antonio, Waco and the surrounding area. God willing they made plans to meet again next year on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend at the church.Geoffrey and Henry Millican from San Antonio came for the Baxter Reunion. Bonnie reported that Henry is a very busy active 2 year old and he brought his tricycle or trickie to ride, but because it was so hot he was unable to give a riding demonstration. That will have to be at a later date when it gets cooler. Paul Strouhal, wife Sharon and his sons Sam and Brian came in from Amarillo. Gail Callahan came out from Lampasas to be with the family.Lesa Preece had a birthday party Saturday for her son Eric Hernandez who turned 26. Present was Lesa, brother Clay Bradley, grandmother Malissa Lemons, his wife Ashley, dad Jose and Linda Hernandez, Kristen Preece, and Justin and Emily Wilson. Clay cooked fajitas and Ashley baked the cupcakes that was enjoyed by everyone.Sunday Lesa and her mother Malissa Lemons spent the day in Killeen, starting out with breakfast and a day of shopping.Happy birthday wishes go out to Jane Clark who will celebrate a birthday September 7, to her grandson Andrew Houdyshell who will celebrate his birthday September 8, to Ashley Chalfant whose birthday is September 12 and to Allison Hend-rick and Lloyd Henniger who will celebrate a birthday September 13.Congratulations go out to Vernon and Loretta Lindsey who will be celebrating their anniversary September 13.
