Cutting down Vines
Thursday, August 30, 2012 • Posted August 30, 2012

Last week I was mowing and cutting down some vines that had grown up in our trees. I do not know what kind of vines they were but they had grown way up in the trees and were choking them. Some of the vines were skinny and had lots of stickers while others were big and had grown up the trees looking like a giant snake. I would mow all around the tree but I made sure the vines in the tops of trees were separated from their roots. On the bigger vines I used a chain saw to separate them from their roots. It does not take much a 2 or 3 inch separation. Those vines remind me of something in the Bible. Jesus is called the true vine or the rootstock, (John 15:1). We are nothing spiritually if we are not connected to Him and one day will be uprooted and totally destroyed, (Matthew 15:13, Revelation 20:15). Those that have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, (Christians) are called the branches, (John 15:4). We must make very sure we are in Christ, not just know He exists but at one time we have called upon Him to forgive us of our sins and put our faith and trust in Him for salvation. In Christ we have eternal life, it is mentioned 42 times in the Bible and means to be with God forever, (John 3:15&16). See you in Church next Sunday.
