The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met August 16, 2012 with the August Chair Hattie Rogers calling for a game of “Mutt & Jeff”, where you count only the par 3 and par 5 holes, less half your handicap. I am happy to announce, first place went to Sandee Hartley, her first venture back on the course after her recent surgery! Great come back! Won the game, Low Gross, Low Net, and the Putt Pot. You can’t keep a good golfer down! There was a tie for second place between Jo Anne Hardy and Peggy Jones and Anita Miles limped in for fourth, but she won the Chip in Pot. Janet Hoyt, Hattie Rogers, and Dorothy Sterner rounded out the field of players. Our San Saba River Club Championship tournament will be August 25 - 26, 2012. You need to sign up as soon as possible at the club house. You should feel obligated to support your club by playing in this annual event. Five of our ladies, Hattie Rogers, Jo Ann Snow, Sandee Hartley, Jo Anne Hardy, and Anita Miles will be attending the Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Association of Texas Fall Tournament at Olympia Hills Golf Club at Universal City, Texas. They are all excited as this is a semi-annual event that they all look forward to. The tournaments are all over Texas and most of the ladies have been going for years. So you not only get to enjoy great golf, great food, great fun; but get to renew old friendships formed through the years. We want to represent San Saba in a fine way, so we are hoping for winners; so it’s back to the ‘drawing board’ and lots of practice and plain old ‘swinging!’
