What a blessed bit of rain we’ve had! Although we didn’t get as much as surrounding areas, we’ll be thankful for every drop! The Indians started their season off on a positive note at Sidney. They took on Lingleville first. While scores are not kept in scrimmages, Coach Martin was pleased with the team’s execution and performance. There’s room for improvement, as is expected in the first live action of the season. Next, they faced Panther Creek. Coach Martin was extremely pleased with the defensive effort in keeping the Panthers out of the end zone in three consecutive goal line stands. The final scrimmage of the night, against Sidney, was cut short due to time constraints, but it allowed the coaches to make strategic substitutions and look at some of the new players. The Indians will continue to improve as they take on Victory Life and Santa Anna at their final scrimmage Friday night at Brownwood’s Victory Life stadium. Coach Martin would like to thank the anonymous donor of the sprinkler system that has enabled the efficient watering of the football field, and to all of the volunteer labor from the leveling of the practice facility to the painting of the goal posts. With these and the addition of the new mower, our campus has never looked better! Teachers and staff are working diligently this week to prepare for Monday’s first day of school. Phillip Fry and Angela Tatsch have worked tirelessly all summer to see that the grounds and facilities are looking great. Their hard work is very much appreciated. New air conditioners have been installed in the junior high and high school halls, completing the campus’ updating that began in the Elementary last year. Ms. Irick is to be thanked for her connection with an organization that has blessed the school with 25 desktop computers and 35 laptops. Teachers are extremely excited to have the updated technology In the elementary computer lab. In this strained economy, it’s amazing to see organizations and individuals that continue to see that our youth have the tools necessary to better their education.
