Opal Jolene Lively passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, in Lampasas, Texas. Visitation for Mrs. Lively was held at Heritage Funeral Home San Saba on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M. Services for Mrs. Lively will at held at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at Chappel Cemetery in San Saba County.Opal Jolene Broyles Lively was born on April 23, 1928, to Charlie and Thelma Keeney Broyles at Chappel, Texas. Jolene married Sherman Archie Lively on September 14, 1946 in Chappel, Texas, by Reverend W.L. White.Twin daughters were born to the couple on January 19, 1949 in San Saba at Woodson Keeney’s home. Jolene is survived by daughters, Mebbie Eckhoff and husband, Leon of Bend; and Debbie January of Rosenthal,Texas; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Charlene Reavis and husband, Jerry, of Chappel.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Michael January.Jolene retired from the United States Postal Service on January 2, 2009, after 51 years as postmaster at Bend. She was an active rancher until her death. Also, she loved reading poetry, picking up pecans, shooting vermin and, in her younger years, riding with nephew Mark McCoury on his motorcycle.Jolene was a lifelong member of the Bend-Chappel Methodist Church where she served as secretary-treasurer for a number of years.Thomas Bowden will be conducting the service. Pallbearers are Randy Baxter, Paul Henry Broyles, Jim Hicks, Mark McCoury, Jerry Reavis, and Stanley Lively. Honorary Pallbearers are S.A. Baxter and Phil B.
