James Luther Beckner

James Luther Beckner passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012, at the age of 94. James was born May 6, 1918, in Chilsom, Rockwall County, Texas, the son of Ambrose Dudley and Harmour Julia Fatheree Beckner. He moved to San Saba with his widowed mother and siblings in 1933. He loved music and was a song leader in the Church of Christ in San Saba. He also led singing at numerous gospel meetings in nearby counties and as far away as New Mexico. James worked for Ragsdale’s International Harvester and Buick Dealership for many years, then entered into his own business as a mechanic. His expertise included farm equipment, pumps, automobiles, trucks and small engines. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence Beckner of Fort Worth, A.D. and Pat Beckner of San Saba; three sisters, Lucy Leora Beckner, Billie Kathryn Dennis of Irving, and Annie Lee Clark of San Saba. He is survived by one nephew, James Clark and wife, Venita of Mineola, Texas; two nieces, Margie and husband, Leszek Wronski and Mary Ann Ross, all of LaMarque, Texas. He is also survived by dear family friend and caregiver, Jerry Mac House; good friend Lela Whitney, and special friends, Bill and Daisy McHorse; five great nephew’s, four great nieces, seven great-great nephews, six great-great nieces, and one great great-great niece. His love for family and friends was unquestioned. Bro. James Clark conducted the service for his uncle. Pallbearers were Edward Ragsdale, Joe Ragsdale, Leszek Wronski, Bill McHorse, and Daniel New.Visitation was held on Friday, August 17 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Services were at 10 A.M., on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Interment was at the San Saba City Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
