San Saba ISD Board of Trustees holds regular meeting August 13th

The Board of Trustees of San Saba ISD held a Regular Meeting on August 13th at 8:00 a.m. in the Central Administration Office. President, Kim Kirk called the meeting to order, welcomed everyone, and established a quorum with Trustee Suzie Nettleship absent. The pledges to the American and Texas flags were repeated followed by the invocation by Trustee Kevin Shahan. High School teacher, Jennifer Waldell, introduced Ana Guerrero who gave information and a power point about the National FCCLA Conference in June at Novasota, Florida. Kristin Reynolds, local president, was also in attendance. The public will be notified by a notice in The San Saba News that the 2012-13 Budget will be adopted on August 30th at noon.Superintendent, Leigh Ann Glaze gave the following information:1. ipad training will be Thursday, August 16th in the Middle School Library.2. Friday morning, August 17th will be the new teacher training/orientation. Board members are invited for lunch and to welcome new teachers at noon in the Armadillo arena.3. Monday, August 20th will be District-wide training.4. Board members were given their passes to district sporting events.5. The September School Board meeting will be Monday, September 10 at 6 p.m.The following consent agenda was approved:A. The regular and executive meeting minutes from July 16th, and Budget meeting August 6th.B. Amended the 2011-2012 budget.C. Allowed to pay bills.D. Financial report.E. Accepted 7 transfers for the 2012-2013 school year.Assistant Superintendent, Michael Bohensky reported on the AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) - Federal accountability - No Child Left Behind - STAAR and the Professional Developement hours that teachers earned during the summer.Elementary Principal, Kay Shackleford, gave information regarding some changes in class rooms, pickup/dropoff and parking.Middle school Principal, Vicki Key, reported on the Lamar Principals Academy she attended once a month for one year and completed. The Academy is in Beaumont, Texas. Action was taken on the following New Business items:a. Approved San Saba County Extension Agents as Adjunct Faculty for the 2012-2013 school year.b. Reviewed the 2012-2013 Student Handbook.c. Approved the 2012-2013 Student Code of Conduct that will be distributed the first day of school to be read and signed by students.d. Tabled the 2012-2013 Personnel Handbook.e. Reviewed the Bullying Reporting Document.f. Approved the Interlocal Agreement with TASB.g. Approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price on San Saba High School Renovation Project. President Kirk announced a short break before the Construction Project Report by Architect, Mike Nelson and Construction Manager, Tom Rehak.
