Hey Armadillo Fans!!!! Welcome back to school and to another incredible year at SSISD! We are so ready for the kiddos to come back….summer is super busy for the team at the central office, but it is so much better when the halls are filled with those shining, smiling faces! We are in full force gearing up for the return of teachers and students. For all practical purposes we can claim that we are fully in school…with band practice, football practice, cheer and drill team practice going on, it is as if school is in full session.School will actually begin on Monday, August 27, 2012. The first bell will ring at 7:40 a.m. and class will begin at 7:45 a.m. School will dismiss at 3:38 p.m. Please take extra precautions when you are dropping off students at San Saba Elementary. All drop-offs in the morning time will occur on Storey Street. Please review the letter that was sent home by Mrs. Shackelford. As well, we encourage you to contact the elementary campus for any questions about the first day of school. For parents new to sending their kiddos to school, the first day can be overwhelming. Please feel free to contact the campus to determine the best way to make the first day of school the most pleasant for you and your child.Teachers will report back to school beginning on Monday, August 20. New teachers will be in training on Friday, August 17, 2012. The entire staff will report back to work for in-service week on Monday, August 20, 2012. The staff will be treated to a breakfast and speaker on Monday morning. The week continues with training from a national Marzano trainer, CPR training, updates on the bullying policy, SMART board training, and much, much more. As well, we will be moving into the new science lab which will take a great deal of time and organization.Of course, the Armadillos will start their action this week, too. Friday August 17th, the Armadillos will see their first football scrimmage against Ozona. The scrimmage will be held at San Angelo Stadium with JV beginning at 5:00 and Varsity to follow. Come out and support the Armadillos!!Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!!
