Football season has finally arrived! I think I’ve seen countdowns on some Facebook accounts from the last day of last season. I told someone recently that this is the time of year I don’t see my husband much. Thankfully I love watching practice and don’t mind the heat or I really wouldn’t see him! Every summer seems to go by so quickly, and this was no exception. It’s been great, however, to go work at the school and see kids working out or running on their own! By press time, practices will have been in full swing. It’s a joke (to some) to guess who will be the first to throw up during practice. (You’d think by now the boys would’ve figured out Coach Martin and Coach Simpson aren’t going to be easy on them the first couple of days!)Cherokee is pleased to welcome Kevin Kelso to the staff. Coach Kelso will be teaching high school math and coaching high school girls. Also joining us is Jake Stevens. Mr. Stevens will be teaching junior high math. Jim Wheeler is our high school science teacher. Coach Kelso and Mr. Wheeler are both Llano-ites and Mr. Stevens is most recently from Stephenville. We welcome these great men to Cherokee!Football schedules are out. Class schedules and school supply lists will be available in the office. It’s going to be a great 2012-2013 school year!Upcoming events:August 18th-Scrimmage at Sidney 10:00 a.m.; August 20th-Teachers return to school; August 24th-Scrimmage at Brownwood Victory Life 6:00 p.m.; August 27th-First day of school.
