The heat hasn’t dried up all the news, but it is still too hot for words and dry as a bone. We need some rain or things are going to really turn brown. Already we have some plants giving up the ghost. Just pray for rain.Jane Tinney finally found the time to send in all her news for the month of July, better late than never. She has been very busy canning and enjoying the company of the grandkids and their parents. Nicholas, Brady and Erika Freeland came for a visit July 6, and spent a week. On July 8 (Tommie’s birthday) Alton, Kim, Trey and Treavor Tinney, Ann, Jerry and Tommy Reyes along with Jane and Tommie ate Chinese food in Brownwood. On July 13 the other grandkids Jacob and Shelby Freeland of Canyon Lake came and spent two weeks. Mindy Freeland came to pick up her children on July 14, and spent the weekend, then on July 28, Gary and Melinda Freeland came to get their kids and spent the weekend. Jane reported that while the kids were visiting they went swimming almost every day and they had several visits with their great grandmother, Jean Freeland and had a lot of blizzards at the DQ, and while all of this was going on Jane was canning. Whew! She reported that the house seems so empty now that everyone is gone. Tommie and Jane really enjoy having their grandkids visit...Jolene Lively is not doing well, from all reports. She is very weak and not wanting to eat. The family needs to be kept in our prayers.Patsy Henniger reported on her trip to San Diego, California to visit daughter Jill and her family. Her daughter-in-law Jill Henniger flew out with her. She reported the weather there was 75 degrees both day and night. R.J. had to stay home and was busy baling hay in all the heat, but is planning to take a trip out to California before too long to visit. The thing right now is the Henniger reunion. Patsy reported she is going to have to recuperate from the Clark and Henniger reunion.This past week Jerome and Shirley have been busy dog sitting their granddaughter’s puppy Stella while she is in Uganda, Africa. Daughter Ralene Gideon went to Canton, Ohio to watch son Blake play in the Football Hall of Fame. She reported that Blake did get to play and did very well. She and Jerome are looking forward to the Henniger reunion.Pat Millican reported that the Bend Methodist Church is planning for the annual Methodist camp meeting that is to be held August 16-19 on the banks of Cherokee Creek. The Evangelist will be Harlene Saddler, who is no stranger to San Saba. She and her husband Steve lived in San Saba for a number of years. Steve is a native of San Saba. She has been serving a church in Eagle Pass. Services will start each night at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday worship will be at 11:00 a.m. followed by dinner on the grounds. Everyone is invited to be a part of the historic 154 consecutive meeting.Happy birthday greetings goes out to John Byrd who will celebrate his birthday August 10, to Kit Clark who will have a birthday August 12, to Garrison Stinnett and Elsa Dean Shirley who will celebrate birthdays August 15 and Winnie Lou McCoury will have a birthday August 16.Congratulations go out to Dan and Jill Harrington who will have an anniversary August 11, and to Gene and Janet Brister who will have an anniversary August 13.
