Thursday, August 2, 2012 • Posted August 2, 2012

We are experiencing some very hot, dry weather these days. I guess they call it the "dog days" of summer for a reason. The big Elm Grove rodeo begins Thursday night and I expect the guys are having to do a lot of watering to get the grounds ready for it. I'm afraid it may be too hot for some of us to be able to attend the rodeo. We are kicking off another new month. The 42 tournament will be August 11th at Mercury as far as I know. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on the 14th. The Elm Grove community meeting will be August 18th.It was nice to have a visit on the phone with Helen Deeds this past week. Helen has had some health problems herself and it was nice of her to check in on me.My grandson, Theron Parson, entered the state trooper academy in Austin last week. He will be stationed in Ft. Davis when he finishes the academy. He was home for the weekend with his family in Bangs.I lost another cousin this past week. Charlotte Voncille Gober Kolaja passed away and was laid to rest in the Holt Cemetery Sunday afternoon. She suffered greatly for a long time. We send our sympathy to her family.
