The beginning of August in Texas will bring 100 degree days, football two-a-days and the first days of the 2012 San Saba Armadillos and Lady Armadillos Cross Country season. My name is Rick Lasley. I am the new Math teacher and Cross Country coach for the San Saba ISD. The anticipation of getting the season started is overwhelming. It is a real privilege as a coach to be able to work with such a talented group of young ladies and gentlemen. This year's Armadillos will be led by last year's Regional qualifiers Hector Paez and Ridge Smith. The Lady Armadillos return the Regional qualifying team of Alexa Maxcey, Yicelle Cuevas, Amaranta Gamboa, Shea Scott, Hailey Osbourn and Andrea Jimenez. With the addition of McKenna Maxcey, Liberty Lasley and Alexus Saldivar, the girls' team will be one of the top 1A Cross Country teams in the state.I have a challenging seven meet schedule this season, which will include the McNeil meet in Round Rock (same course the state meet is run), in order to prepare our athletes for what I truly believe will be two state-qualifying teams. San Saba will host a meet on Wednesday September 5th. Any volunteers to help run the meet and/or work concessions would be greatly appreciated.I contacted a few of last year's runners and asked them to spread the news, but if you intend to be a part of the 2012 Dillo's Cross Country Team and have not gotten the message; we will start our workouts at Mill Pond Park on Monday, August 6th at 7AM. Once again, I cannot express my excitement in anticipation of the coming season. If you have any questions or want to volunteer to help with our meet, please call me on my cell at 940-597-3808. Thank you, Coach Lasley.
