The 2012 Olympics! I don’t know about your house, but at the Martin home we’ve been glued to the TV all we can. It’s amazing to see the stories of these athletes who have overcome great odds to be in the London Olympics—parents who have sacrificed everything, siblings who have changed schools, athletes who have had multiple fund raisers to enable them to chase their dreams. It’s inspiring to see the athletes give 110% to their sport.Speaking of athletes, the high cheer squad just returned from cheer camp loaded with awards and a trophy! The cheerleaders were awarded two excellent and two superior ribbons, a S.P.O.T. Award, National Championship Bid, and the Most Improved trophy. Cheerleader Pashion Monroe got an All-American nomination. Mascot Talli Morrison got a superior ribbon, Mascot Unity award, and All-American mascot! These girls work hard before football starts to prepare for the upcoming season. Great job, girls! The Second Annual Brandon Sharpe Speed Camp was held this past weekend. Boys of all ages were taught skills to improve their game on and off the field. A few lost their breakfast, some learned not to eat too much lunch, and many woke up very sore the following morning, but it was a great day for the boys! It’s pretty cool to see a guy who has reached the NFL level go through drills with a 9- and 17-year old on either side of him, both aspiring to be like him some day! Thanks to Brandon, Devin Everett, and Josh Reyes for putting on a great event!Upcoming events: August 6-17 Two-a-days; August 20 Teacher in service begins; August 27 School starts.
