The San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (34-8) finished their season in style by capturing the 2012 Austin Lady Magic Summer Classic Basketball Tournament championship in Round Rock on Saturday July 21. On their way to the championship, the Lady Dillos picked up wins over the Liberty Hill Swoosh, 24-20, and tournament host Austin Lady Magic, 34-17. Liberty Hill would play their way back into the championship game only to be handed a decisive 29-9 loss from the Lady Dillos. Leading scorers for the season include Dynasty Saldivar, Kirsten Jimenez, Linzey Maxcey and Brenna Chambers. Ashlynn Cash led the Lady Dillos in rebounding while Hannah Osbourn played a key role defensively. Casey Mathis and Savannah Johnson also played key roles and provided quality minutes for the Lady Dillos. Newcomers include Analyn Bohensky, Callie Ham-mett and Courtnee Cash. Expectations will be high for next year as the Lady Dillos will only be losing one player to 7th grade while the remaining players will all be 6th graders at San Saba Middle School.
