Millican Desendants Gather For Annual Reunion

Saturday, July 7, 2012 the annual Millican Reunion was held at the San Saba Civic Center. Descendants of Mose and Virginia Millican as well as those of Miles and Bertha Millican gather each year on the Saturday nearest the Fourth of July. There were some 42 family and friends who met for lunch and visiting. The reunion offered the opportunity to wish Thelma Millican an early happy 100th birthday. (The actual date is in August). She received a beautiful decorated cake and a huge poster birthday card which everyone signed. All of Sherman and Virga Millican’s children attended: Gail Callahan from Lampasas, Jean Strouhal from Friendswood, and Pat and wife Bonnie Millican from Bend.Elsie Millican, widow of Winston Millican, had all of her children there, along with lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From Brownwood, Mike Millican attended. From San Saba, there was Bob Millican and from Bend, Kay Thompson. Winston and Kristen Millican, along with daughters Abby and Ana were there. Monica and Kevin Shahan with children Risien, Madison, and Gracen helped round out the family numbers. Kay Millican Thompson from Bend was accompanied by son Kelly Thompson and his friend Mandy. Thelma Millican, widow of Poley Millican, was accompanied by family members Sylvia McGregor and son-in-law Forrest McGregor. Greg McGregor, wife Paula, son Logan, and daughter Haley attended as well. From Lubbock, the McGregor’s daughter Kathy, her husband Randy, and their three children Clayton, Carley, and Cole also shared in the fun. The Miles Millican branch was represented ably by Ron Millican from New Braunfels. His sons Jacob and Zach from Arlington arrived in time to enjoy the food and fellowship as well. North and Dorothy Millican’s daughter Helen and husband John Tilton from Temple, along with Johnny and Joanne Millican added to the festivities.C.K. and Vickie Stevenson (from the Means side of the house) were in attendance.Special friends who also attended were: John Pat and Emmett Lee Grumbles of Austin and San Saba, respectively. Jymmie Linzey of San Saba joined us for the meal and fellowship as well. The Millican Family Reunion will be held again next July on the Saturday closest to the Fourth.
