A hint of rain, but just a few drops Sunday, not enough to measure. No reports of rain in the forecast, just how hot it will be, which you don’t need someone on TV telling you about it. All we can do is hope for some rain sometime in the near future.The news this week is about as plentiful as the rain we are not getting. Just too hot and people are not out doing too much. Next week may be better.Handy and Cathy Gibson recently attended a National Wheat Meeting last week in Spokane, Washington. They had a great time, and enjoyed the warm, dry weather. They just found out they will soon be grandparents for the third time and are loving every minute.The Bend United Methodist Church held their Vacation Bible School July 15-18. They had 16 children participate and three teens who worked as helpers for the 14 adult activity leaders. The Hicks family participants were Raymond as assembly leader, Lewvon and Orabeth provided refreshment, Debbie was the music leader and Laura Beth assisted with the Bible Studies. Forty-nine children and adults attended the closing activities and enjoyed a wonderful meal and fellowship. Raymond, Lewvon, Bobby, Debbie and Laura Beth Hicks attended the wedding of Ray-mond’s nephew Stephen Hicks and JoJo Molina at the San Saba community Center on Saturday 21 of July. The wedding was followed by a reception and dance honoring the couple.Patsy Henniger is still recuperating from the family reunion that recently was held and is now getting ready to make a trip to California sometime in the near future. She will enjoy visiting her family that lives there.Bonnie Millican reported that Cory and Shannon Evan and their sons were visitors Sunday at the Bend Methodist church. They were at the Bend State Park, but are now at Palo Duro Canyon State Park. She reported that the boys are growing like weeds, which is good for boys not for weeds.Fannie Crawford is now residing at the Pecan Valley Rehab and Nursing home in San Saba and would like for all her friends to visit her there. Lillie Belle Marley will be going from the hospital to the Lampasas Nursing and Rehab.Happy birthday greetings go out to Steve Byrd who will celebrate a birthday Sunday, July 29, to Mike Allen Byrd who will celebrate his birthday Monday, July 30. Looks as if all the birthdays this coming week are for the Byrds. No pun intended!Congratulations go out to Jack and LaNell Daniels who will celebrate their anniversary July 27. To celebrate that might just call for a trip to Oklahoma to the one-armed bandits, as they both seemed to enjoy that so much?
