James Ferrell

James Ferrell of Austin, Texas passed away Wednesday, July, 18, 2012 at home, surrounded by his loving wife of 56 years and family. He was born in San Saba, Texas in 1934 to James Ferrell, Sr. and Mamie Moore Ferrell. After graduating from San Saba High School, he joined the Army where he served in the 263rd Ordinance Det., as an intelligence technician in Huntsville, AL. He retired from Lucent Technologies in 1986. He enjoyed painting, gardening, photography and the beach. He was a member of NARFE, South Austin Democrats and Capital Area Progressive Democrats.James is survived by his wife, Marjorie; brothers, John, Lloyd, Bill and Ray; sisters, Betty Heine and Pat Hulme; brother-in-law, Glen Lee Allen; and their children, Herbert M. Baugh and Karen Ferrell Alexander, Connie Baugh Moran and Marcia Baugh Powell. He adored his nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.Funeral Services were held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor John Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.The family would like to express a special thank you to Odyssey Hospice, St. David’s South Austin and Texas Oncology, and all their staff.
