San Saba ISD Board of Trustees meeting held July 16th

The San Saba ISD Board of Trustees held a regular meeting on Monday, July 16th at 8:00 a.m. in the Central Administration office. President Kim Kirk called the meeting to order with a quorum present with Board member Suzie Nettleship and Assistant Superintendent Michael Bohensky absent. President Kirk welcomed everyone followed by the pledges to the American and Texas flags. Board member Kevin Shahan gave the invocation.Superintendent Leigh Ann Glaze gave the following information:1. The August School Board meeting will be August 13th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Budget Workshop.2. Construction bids will be viewed and awarded at 8:00 a.m. on August 6th.3. Twenty five staff and teachers are in Houston (including Michael Bohensky) at the Literacy Institute for details on the Liteance of Effort.6. Made plans to attend the Convention in Austin from Friday, July 20th to Sunday, July 22nd.7. President Kirk will be attending the San Saba Appraisal District's meeting on July 25th to vote on the budget.The following Consent Agenda was approved:A. The regular and executive meeting minutes from June 14th and Budget meeting July 9th.B. Amend 2011-2012 budget.C. Allow and pay bills.D. The Financial report.F. Student transfers for the 2012-2013 school year.A report was given on the High School Science Lab “under construction” at this time.After review and discussion, the Board approved an increase in the teachers compensation recommended by Superintendent Glaze.Action was taken on the following New Business:a. Approved 2012-2013 tentative M&O and I&S Tax Rate for Inclusion in Official Notice for Publication.b. Set the date of Thursday, August 30th at noon to adopt 2012-2013 M&O and I&S Budget and Tax rates.c. Selected and approved the 2012-2013 bids for food, non-food items, fuel and oil.d. Approved appraisal calendar and appraisers for teacher evaluation.e. Approved to apply for the Teacher Incentive Fund Grant.f. Approved a policy update 94 affecting local policies on first reading: FFAF (local) Care Plans.President Kirk announced a short break before an Executive Session. During the Executive Session the Board regretfully accepted the resignation of teacher, Jim Wheeler.
