Pecan Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation July Employee of the Month
Thursday, July 19, 2012 • Posted July 19, 2012

Penny Clark Pierce has been named Employee of the Month at Pecan Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation for the month of July. Penny was born and raised in San Saba County and graduated from San Saba High School. When asked what it was like growing up at Bend, Penny replied that she is the youngest of nine girls and one boy, so life was big from the start. “We swam in the river and creek, played volleyball on the school house hill. Between the Hennigers, Hicks and Clarks, there were a lot of kids. Gorman Falls wasn’t a state park, so we could go in the caves and play in the falls anytime we wanted. We would walk to the Bend Store and back to get a coke for 25 cents and not be afraid of anything. Times have changed. Life was very simple and good then."Penny was asked why she loves working at Pecan Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. She said when she was young, God put it on her Daddy and Mother’s heart to bring her grandmother, who had cancer to live with them.Penny responded, “That is how I lived growing up, taking care of folks in our family. I was privileged to have such a large family, that did the same for my Dad and Mother, they both died at home. .I still live in the home where I was raised with so much love and care. PVNR is just an extension of how I was raised. Just on a larger scale. I don’t have a T.V. or computer, so I read the Word a lot. They say there are nations where God’s Word is not allowed in homes, if so, I am definitely blessed."Penny is a true asset to PVNR. She is friendly, energetic and very caring. She goes above and beyond to help with anything needed. We feel very lucky to have Penny on our team. Thanks Penny for a job well done.
