Officials of San Saba and Mills counties seized several pounds of marijuana, a number of illegal weapons and chemicals and laboratory equipment used in producing methamphetamines when a farm 7-8 miles north of Richland Springs was raided last Thursday afternoon.All friends and neighbors of Randy Ray Beard is invited to a party July 17th from 7:00 til... at the Rodeo Slab. Excavation for a 50 x 100 foot swimming pool began Monday on city property in Mill Pond Park. Donations for construction of the pool now stands at $6,546.00, according to a report made Wednesday by Harry Shapiro, treasurer of the City Improvement League.Jack B. Miller, who was recently discharged from military service, has set up a law office in the old Mitch Johnson office above Little Hardware.A total of 115 pints of blood were collected from 150 donors last week during the first visit of the Red Cross Bloodmobile to San Saba County.The annual Old Settlers Reunion will be held Friday, August 8th at the Old Fair parkgrounds with John Lee Walker serving as chairman of the reunion.Current subscription rates for The San Saba News & Star are as follows: $2.50 per year for residents of San Saba County, $3.00 per year outside of San Saba County.

Fire originating in the E.A. Kuykendall ranch pasture (Pontotoc road) Wednesday destroyed some 1,500 acres of grass and damaged timber and fences and in the pasture adjoining owned by Miss Amy Sloan before it was extinguished by citizens from San Saba and the surrounding ranch territory early in the night.Mrs. Milton Wallin of Lakeview community, reported the best canning record made by a Resettlement homemaker in this county for the first six months of 1937. Mrs. Wallin canned 130 quarts of vegtables, 42 quarts of fruits, 38 quarts of sweets and 17 quarts of relishes.$500 reward for arrest and conviction of anyone stealing livestock on any of our lands in this part of the country controlled by us or any of our employees.
