San Saba City Council holds regular meeting

The San Saba City Council held a regular session on Tuesday, July 10th at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Ken Jordan called the session to order and announced a quorum present with all council members present. Alderman Charles Peeler gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.The July Employee of the Month award was presented to Jarrod Beck. He has been employed by the City since October. His name was added to the plaque, was given a day off with pay and a $25 gift certificate at a local restaurant.Gail Bruner, reported the Governor’s Community Achievement Award of $110,000 was awarded to Keep San Saba Beautiful. The funds will be used for certain improvements and projects in the City. The following Consent Agenda items were approved by Council:1. Minutes from the June 12th & 22nd 2012 Council meetings.2. Payment of bills presented to City Council.3. Resolution No. 2012-21 waiving noise ordinance on July 14th at the Gazebo at Mill Pond Park.The state mandated Eyewitness Identification Policy for the San Saba Police Department was reported on by Police Chief Ray Riggs, and approved by the Council.Stan Weik, City Manager, reported on the following:a. Sludge removal, water cannon and fencing.b. Finalizing grant for project in the City.Gale Ivy, City Secretary, reported that there will be a Called Meeting on Monday, July 23rd at 6 p.m. followed by a Budget meeting.The following departments presented their budget requests for the 2012-2013 fiscal year: Streets, Electric, EMS, Police, Code Enforcement/Animal Control. After a short break, the Council held an Executive Session.
