Elm Grove Echoes

We are hearing thunder all around us on this Monday evening and some rain is falling. More is in the forecast so maybe we will get some much needed moisture before it is all over. We are already into another new month. The year is flying by! The Busy Bee quilters are meeting on the 10th at Irene Hammett’s house. The 42 tournament will be this Saturday night, the 14th, at Elm Grove. There will be no community meeting this month due to the absence of both the president and the vice-president. June Beakley was honored by her two sons, Mike and Steve, with a birthday party at the Mercury Community Center on June 30th. I didn’t get to go but I hear it was a very nice party with a houseful of guests. We wish June many more happy birthdays! The big Elm Grove rodeo is coming up on August 2, 3 & 4. The men are already working on the grounds getting everything ready. We had a houseful of company over the weekend. Stacie and Sophia Elizondo came to spend Friday night and they were joined here by Amy Tucker and Jax, Georgia and Jesse for supper. Then Lanell Parson, Kelton and Hannah came Saturday morning and they all helped decorate a float for Marilyn and all the kids to ride in the Stars and Stripes parade. It was a good parade and they all had a lot of fun. There was a big crowd for the fish fry and fireworks Saturday night. As usual, the Stars and Stripes committee did a good job and we appreciate their efforts, especially since there are not very many turning out to help anymore.
