Thursday, July 5, 2012 • Posted July 5, 2012

Receipts totaled 1163 head for the week. The market was uneven with the uncertainty on the corn crop this year due to the dry conditions in the corn belt area which pushed corn prices up each day this week increasing the cost of gain in the feedlots. Stocker steers were $5 lower but stocker heifers sold $3 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were $3-$5 lower. Packer cows were $2 higher and bulls were $3 higher with the top bull at 114.75. Pairs and bred cows were steady and in good demand.Steers: choice lightweight calves 180-217.50, choice medium weight calves 160-200, choice heavyweight calves 140-155Heifers: choice lightweight calves 165-202.50, choice medium weight calves 145-164, choice heavyweight calves 130-161.50Yearlings: choice lightweight steer yearlings 135-144, choice heavyweight steer yearlings 125-133.50, choice lightweight heifer yearlings 125-139.50, choice heavyweight heifer yearlings 120-127, #2 steer calves and yearlings 130-165, #2 heifer calves and yearlings 120-145, shorties and plainer calves and yearlings 110-130Bred Cows: choice bred cows 1190-1290, medium to good bred cows 1010-1180, plainer and older bred cows 900-1000Slaughter Cows: high yield 85-91, medium yield 78-84, low yield 70-77, heiferetts and young stockers 90-120Bulls: high yield 108-117, medium yield 101-107, low yield 96-100, feeder 96-106Pairs: Choice 1600-1900, medium to good 1425-1590, plainer and older 1150-1250Representative sales:Jody Adams, Paducah, 1 steer, 405 lbs 200.00Stierin Ranch, Gillett, 6 steers, 463 lbs 175.00Bert Nesloney, Mason, 1 steer, 570 lbs 163.00Mike Threadgill, Burnet, 1 steer, 625 lbs 150.00Paul Grimme, Cherokee, 8 steers, 617 lbs 140.00Ray Williamson, Menard, 2 steers, 698 lbs 138.00Double F Ranch, Cherokee, 6 steers, 887 lbs 133.50Mark Toppert, Mullin, 5 heifers, 526 lbs 164.00Paul Grimme, Cherokee, 10 heifers, 609 lbs 161.50Bode Livestock, San Saba, 6 heifers, 652 lbs 145.00Double F Ranch, Cherokee, 5 heifers, 709 lbs 139.50Mays Ranching Company, Richland Springs, 1 cow, 1390 lbs 91.00Barney and Susan McAlpine, Eldorado, 8 steers, 442 lbs 180.00Greer Kothmann, Junction, 3 steers, 435 lbs 170.00D & R Kothmann, Hamilton, 2 steers, 585 lbs 158.00Barney and Susan McAlpine, Eldorado, 7 steers, 544 lbs 154.50Mark Enderlin, Fredericks-burg, 1 steer, 660 lbs 145.00D & R Livestock, Hamilton, 3 steers, 660 lbs 145.00Gary and Sherry Hoffman, San Angelo, 1 steer, 660 lbs 142.00Doris Tate, Austin, 1 steer, 730 lbs 140.00Crystle Keyser, Mason, 5 steers, 770 lbs 138.50Steve Landers, Llano, 1 steer, 795 lbs 130.00Momentum Livestock, Mason, 1 heifer, 530 lbs 157.00Butch Welgehausen, Fred-ericksburg, 1 heifer, 560 lbs 148.00Rae and Brad Lehmberg, Mason, 2 heifers, 630 lbs 142.00Crystle Keyser, Mason, 8 heifers, 716 lbs 126.00Kim and Harvey Metcalf, Center Point, 1 heifer, 780 lbs 120.00Nathaniel Jordan, Art, 1 cow, 1190 lbs 88.00Greer Kothmann, Junction, 3 pair, 1900.
