Hardy earns Academic Honors

The Registrar’s Office of Sam Houston State University has released the Dean’s List of Academic Honors for the Spring Semester 2012. The student names listed on the Dean’s List of Academic Honors are undergraduate students who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than twelve semester hours, and have earned no grade in a Developmental course below a grade of B. Making the list from San Saba, Texas is Shelby Hardy, who finished the 2012 Spring Semester with a 3.60 GPA. Additionally, the League announced that Shelby has been named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s 2012 Spring Academic Honor Roll. A record total of 979 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll surpassed the record of 953 set last spring. Sam Houston State landed 87 student-athletes on the honor roll which includes student-athletes who took part in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.Shelby Hardy was also named to the five-player Academic All-Southland Conference women’s golf honor squad for the 2011-12 school year. The honor marks Hardy’s second year to be selected to the Academic All-Southland squad. Hardy is a kinesiology major with a 3.21 cumulative GPA. She recorded eight top 10 scores on the year including medalist honors at the Butler Invitational and the Houston Baptist Invitational. She is only the fourth Bearkat women’s golfer to win two individual titles in one season. A two-time first-team all-conference selection, Hardy ranked fourth in the league this past season with a 75.71 stroke average, which is the fourth lowest single season average in Bearkat women’s golf history.Joining Hardy on the 2011-12 Academic All-Southland Conference women’s golf team is teammate Meghan Musk plus Texas State’s Krista Puisite, Mara Puisite, and Gabby de Reuck. The Academic All-Southland team is voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors from each Southland Conference university. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
