It was reported in last weeks Bend news that Jo would be taking some time off and nothing would be put in this week’s paper——the best laid plans do not always work out as you can see.Raymond Hicks reported that Karin Risberg was given a going away dinner June 24, by the members of the Bend Methodist church. A catered TexMex dinner was served to members of the church and members of the Bend community and friends from Lampasas. The fabulous Dinner was prepared by Margaret Carlile and Cindy Huron. Bobby and Debbie Hicks, Alex and Rita Wittenberg will honor Karin with a dinner at Alfredo’s in Lampasas. It will be attended by her family from the Bend and her school friends from Lampasas. She returned to her home in Sweden on June 27. She enjoyed her year in Texas very much and her presence here has been a blessing for her and for everyone else. She and her family are planning to come back for a visit to Texas in 2013.Last Saturday Laura Beth took a trip to Dallas for a “One Direction” concert with her Wittenburg cousins from Lampasas and Fredericks-burg. It was reported that she enjoyed the concert very much. She was as excited as many of us older folks were when we saw Elvis or the Beetles. She went along with family to Austin to see Karin off to Sweden. It was a sad time for everyone.Sean Nixon celebrated his 5th birthday with a spaghetti supper, a chocolate cake decorated with Dinosaurs, and peanut butter ice cream. Helping him in the celebration was his Mom, Deidra and little brother Ethan. Also his PawPaw and GranB Phillip and Bobbie Morris, Great Grandmother Lola Morris, Aunt Amanda Morris, Aunt and Uncle Jamie and Dave Garrett, Dickie Eckhoff, David Rathman, Jimmy and Sylvia Stinnett, Jackie and Charlene Brister, Penny Vasek and Bryan Benningfield.Jane Tinney reported on what the family had been up to this past week. Sunday they had a fish fry for Alton, Kim, Trevor and Trey Tinney, Ann Reyes and son Tommy, Allison Schroeder of Round Rock and her boyfriend Charlie of Colorado. Tommie has a birthday July 8. and plans are being made to celebrate that big event. Jane is looking forward to having her grandkids come for a visit in July. Looks like the Tinney household will be a busy place in July.Pat and Bonnie Millican will be visited by Pat’s sisters Gail Callahan of Lampasas and Jean Strouhal of Friends Wood over the Fourth of July and will be attending the Millican reunion at the Civic Center in San Saba Saturday, July 7 and later that afternoon they will be attending a reception honoring Ruby and Marcus Amthor, following their destination wedding at Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It will be held in the Leaning Bluff Lodge and there should be lots of pictures to share with everyone.
