The Board of Trustees of San Saba ISD held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, June 14th at 8:00 a.m. in the Central Administration Office. President, Kim Kirk called the meeting to order, established a Quorum present with Board members Marcie Maxcey and Susie Nettleship absent, followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. Board member Kevin Shahan gave the invocation.Susie Garza, District Secretary, Administered the Oath of Office and the swearing in of elected Trustees, Michael Deans and Kim Kirk. The following Trustee Officers will serve for the coming year: Kim Kirk, President; Marcie Maxcey, Vice-President; Kevin Shahan, Secretary. Superintendent, Leigh Ann Glaze gave the following information:A. The next Board Meeting will be July 16th at 8:00 a.m.B. The Graduation process went well at Rogan Field; Scholarship information to graduates is listed in the San Saba News & Star.C. In preparation for construction and changes, two houses are in the process of getting ready for demolition and the portable building has been sold and ready to move.D. Friday, June 15th at 10 a.m. interested parties will be allowed to view salvage items from the property at 603 W. Storey. Salvage will begin June 25th.E. Gave reservation and schedule information to Board members for the TASB Fall Conference in Austin. The following Consent Agenda was approved:a. The regular and executive meeting minutes from May 14th.b. Amended 2011-2012 budget as needed.c. Allow and pay bills.d. The financial report.e. Accepted a donation from the Boosters in the amount of $2,500 to the Athletic Department.f. Approved 13 Student Transfers to SSISD for the 2012-2013 School Year.Michael Bohensky, Assistant Superintendent, reported the following: CSCOPE Conference is June 18th - 21st in San Antonio; letters have been sent to parents/guardians with students End of Course test scores, STAAR, TAKS and CSCOPE information; 25 Retests have been taken; teachers did everything they could do to prepare students for tests; and gave an update on the Literacy Grant. Kay Shackleford, Elementary Principal, gave a report on the Elementary Campus Planning/Improvement Event that was held June 4th, 5th, & 6th. The Board took action on the following New Business items:1. Set Tuesday, July 10th at 5:00 p.m. for a budget workshop.2. Reviewed the first draft of the Compensation Plan for teachers - with plans to compare pay scale of other districts.3. Approved the ESC XV Contracts for 2012-2013 School Year.4. Approved Cafeteria Meal Prices for 2012-2013 School Year.5. Reviewed 2013 Proposed Budget for San Saba County Appraisal District.President Kirk, SSISD representative to the SSCAD will attend the Public Hearing on the Proposed Budget on July 27th at 8:30 a.m. 6. Tabled reviewing the updated Federal Programs Handbook and Local Financial Handbook until next meeting.At 9:20 a.m. President Kirk announced a break for a short Executive Session before continuing the meeting with a Construction Project Report.The meeting reconvened at 9:40 a.m. with Architect Mike Nelson and Contractor Tom Reyek presenting a video, handouts and visuals for the Construction Project Report.President Kirk adjourned the meeting at 11:20 a.m.
