Elm Grove Echoes

We have had no rain lately other than the .5 of an inch over a week ago. Wish we could get just a little of the 25 inches Florida is expecting off the hurricane. The heat is just almost unbearable and the vegetation is suffering from the hot wind and the grasshoppers. Fay and Gloria Lusty were the only Busy Bee quilters joining Irene Hammett at her house for the last quilting day. Carol Orr is spending her summer in Wyoming. The next quilting day will be July 10th. There were nine present at the last community meeting. There will be no meeting in July since both the president and vice-president have other obligations. The next meeting will be the second Saturday in August. Speaking of August, I hope you have all marked your calendars for the big Elm Grove rodeo on August 2,3,& 4. There will be more information about it in the coming weeks. Plans for the Stars and Stripes celebration, here in Richland Springs, are under way and it is scheduled for July 7th beginning with the parade at 9:00 a.m. and continuing with activities all day long winding up with a big fireworks display after the fish fry. Richland Springs is busier on this day than any other day of the year! We had a very nice visit with my granddaughter, Marla Cummings, over the weekend. She couldn’t stay too long since she had to get ready for cheerleader camp this week, but we had fun with her while she was here. Marla will be a Jr. at Rising Star this next year, hard for me to believe! The month of June is almost gone and before you know it, school will be starting up again. We had the Tucker kids again today while Amy Tucker attended yet another work day in San Angelo. News is scarce, I guess it is too hot for much activity.
