I am a conflicted person. I don’t mind admitting that in the least little bit. For my daughter-in-laws sake I have been praying that the time will just fly by so that Scott can get home sooner. On the other hand, I find my summer is flying past as well, and I have too many things to accomplish before school goes back! I have to say that this summer is much more enjoyable weather wise than last year. We are in for a few solid days of over 100 this week, but compared to last year we are way ahead of the game. My son will be arriving in Germany just about the time I head back to school. It has been a very worrying time for all concerned. I am so very proud of his dedication, but as I’ve said before; it is difficult to fight a war when you cannot differentiate friend from foe. It is devastating to these young men. It really is time to bring our young men and women home. The Stars and Stripes are looking for volunteers for the 4th of July festivities. Carol Bryant could use a little help setting up the parade. Floats and other participants need to be ready to line up at 8:00a.m., so that the parade can start promptly at 9:00a.m. They are looking for a few more vendors for the day. All you young entrepreneurs need to look to setting up a stand of some kind. I hear the cheerleaders want to earn money, here is a great opportunity. Contact either Carol or Ginger if you can assist in any way. I’m going to miss the whole day. I’ll be in Midlothian attending the remarriage of my daughter Christine. I’ve been busy making table arrangements and floral bouquets for the big event.Speaking of weddings, I attended the Starr/Locker wedding Friday along with about 150 other people. The First Baptist Church was draped in gauze and flowers. It was a beautiful ceremony joining two young neighbors. The attendants were in mauve lace and the bride had the most stunningly beautiful lace gown. It was one of those gowns that you could say hugged every curve of her body, displaying it to perfection. Imagine my surprise when I noticed a pair of boots under that gorgeous lace delight. The reception was held at the Locker place in their barn. It was quite an amazing building! I don’t think you can really call it a barn. It was the perfect place for a reception. Let me amend that statement and say it was not quite as perfect for the magnificent cake that Kay McKee created. The heat played havoc with the icing and several of the ladies fanned the multitiered convection to keep it cool! Mark Locker was an excellent host and the 200 people who showed up for the dinner were not disappointed. I suspect that Sarah’s mom Pam is having a good rest after the last few weeks of frantic activity. Kathy Brockman was taking notes since Kendra is planning an October wedding and an at home reception. I just love weddings! I sincerely hope these young people will have a richly blessed and happy marriage. We have a few sick folks who need our prayers. Charlie Capps is headed to M.D.Anderson for some cancer treatments. Carl Young will have surgery as soon as he has gained a little strength. Bev Cohn is ill but doctors have not found a cause. Robin Crisp is having the same diagnosis problems. Beatrice Soto is having knee surgery and much to our dismay Paul Gibson will have to go for chemo treatments. H.B Adams will have more surgery as a result of his accident. June McPherson will have to undergo more cancer treatments.Youth camp is scheduled for July 16-20th. All teens wishing to attend the camp need to contact Brother Barry. I believe he is planning some fund raisers. Someone should suggest the 4th of July event. I heard lemonade stands, food stands, those neon jewelry things, and more. Check it out young people. I know they are expecting great things from camp. VBS is scheduled for July 29 through August 2nd. If you’re not busy on Thursday the Fellowship of Christian Women will hold their monthly luncheon at the Parkview Baptist Church in San Saba at 11:30a.m. Please see their announcement as to which age group is being honored. These meetings are always entertaining, inspirational and the food is great! Why not bring a friend and meet some lovely Christian women in our community? Please pray for our government, our legislators, our President and our country. Please pray for our precious troops and their families. I know first hand how devastating and lonely it is for a family waiting daily for their loved one to come home and fearing any bad news. God bless our wonderful men and women in all forces. May God continue to bless America.
