Thursday, June 28, 2012 • Posted June 28, 2012

On Wednesday, June 20, 2012, the Wallace Creek EE Club and the Simpson Creek EE clubs held a joint meeting at the Wallace Creek Club house. There was not a formal meeting; several items were discussed. Roll call "Name a hint for conserving energy", everyone gave their conserving idea. The May Event report was given, which was very successful. The District EE camp will be August 7 and 8 at the 4-H Center on Lake Brownwood. Those interested in attending need to make their reservations very soon. The discussion about the By-Laws for the State TEEA were read and discussed; then voted on. Betty Wilson will be attending as the delegate from San Saba County with the vote results from the clubs. The State TEEA meeting will be September 11-13 in Beaumont. With no other business to take care of, the group was ready for the program."We Got the Power" was presented by Betty Wilson. She gave informative and helpful hints to conserve energy. Some of them were turning off the light when there is no one in the room. Check the gaskets on the refrigerator and freezer for leaking air, replace when needed. Change air conditioner filter often or the heating filters are as important. By closing the drapes or blinds in the summer can help in cooling, but do the reverse in the winter months. When you rinse your hands, use cold water, the hot water makes the water heater come on, using energy. There is a large number of hints, too many to list here.Faye Currie and Lynn Blankenship served refreshments to Martha Roe Terry, Barbara Porter, Carol Littlefield, Marcie Cooper, Jeanne Sauer, Louise Oswald, Betty Wilson, Gloria Lusty and Doris Cates. The next EE Club meetings will be in September. Have a safe and healthy summer.
