The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met June 14, 2012 for the monthly business meeting. The meeting was called to order by the president, Anita Miles, and opened with prayer led by Janet Hoyt. The secretary, Jo Anne Hardy, read the minutes and they were approved as read and she also gave the financial report in the absence of the treasurer, Hattie Rogers. The president welcomed Flossy Woodward who was a guest for the day. Flossy is a great golfer and we hope that she will join our association and become an active member! The Four Ball Chair, Sandee Hartley, announced Traveling Four Ball will be at Delaware Springs on June 20, 2012. The ladies discussed their various jobs for the Summer Pecan Classic Tournament scheduled for June 23, 2012. The meeting adjourned for play with the chair for June, Jo Anne Hardy, calling for a game of ‘Best at Something’, where you score a point for being in the fairway on your drive, a one putt, or being on the green in regulation - subtracting a point for being in a hazard, a lost ball, or a three putt. Jo Anne won first in the game she called for, good for her! Anita Miles was second and Dorothy Sterner third. Anita and Jo Anne tied for low putts to split the Putt Pot and Anita scored the only birdie of the day and the Low Net for the day. Flossy Woodward scored the Low Gross for the day. Peggy Jones, Jo Ann Snow, Sandee Hartley, and Janet Hoyt also participated in the fun in the sun. Last week, the ladies didn’t get to play golf because of the rain but they had more rain on their parade. They had planned to have a surprise birthday party for Anita Miles and she was a no show. Anita went to Floydada to get her grandson, J Michael, who is on the wheat harvest to bring him to San Saba for his sister’s wedding. Alas, presents but no birthday girl! Let me say at this time, when I got home there were all my greetings on my kitchen counter and it made me very happy. It’s always the thought that counts! So thanks girls, I had a wonderful birthday! The bonds of friendship formed on the golf course is very special and everlasting. So, I invite you again, whoever you are, join us at the San Saba River Golf Course where it’s fun to be ‘swinging!’
