Sunday afternoon late a bit of rain fell around the Bend area leaving 3/8 inch of rain. Not much but every little drop will help.The fish fry at the Methodist Camp Ground was a big success Friday night. People came from all over to enjoy the fish fry and enjoyed listening to Allison Hendrick singing. She is the great granddaughter of LaFayne Porte. There was just enough of a breeze to keep everyone comfortable.The Bend has some celebrities living in the area. Pat and Bonnie Millican made the front page of the Lampasas Dispatch Record last week. They along with Mike and Ruthie Martin will be Spring Ho Grand Parade marshals this year in Lampasas.Jerry and Charlene Reavis was in Burtram one day last week visiting a long time friend of Charlene, Marie Townsend Montgomery and her husband Darrell. Marie and Charlene were childhood friends long ago when the Townsend family lived in this area.Lesa Preece reported that she and her son Clay Bradley took kayaks down to the state park and paddled down to Post Oak Falls. They had a swim at Spricewoods and afterwards a picnic. They did some fishing, but did not catch any fish and had a good time trying. Jaclyn Bradley her niece visited for several days with last week. Lesa reported that she still has 2 Shih-Tzu/Yorkie Puppies (Shorkies) left. If you have a need for a puppy you might give her a call or go by.Jane Clark reported on the family news for Father’s Day. William had a double celebration as his birthday came on Saturday before. Saturday Doug Messer cooked pork loin over charcoal for the family to enjoy. Sunday Jane fried chicken for Bobbie, Kit Clark and son Zack and Ashley Wallace and their children Misty, Aubry, Autumn Rose and Kade of Round Rock and Boyd Clark and their children Levi and Silas, Jamie Houdyshell and boys Andrew and A. J., Doug, Kristi Messer and children Jaylee and Jordan of Lampasas.Emerson and Gladys Brister along with son Thomas and William “Buddy” Albert from Thrall was in over the weekend. They attended the fish fry at the campground. Gladys spent the night with sister Jane Clark while the men camped out and got in some fishing. And from all reports the men caught some fish. Gladys, Jane, LaNell Daniels and Tommye Cobern spend Friday afternoon playing Hand and Foot. The winners were Jane and Gladys. Emerson, Gladys, Thomas and Buddy returned home Saturday night.Happy birthday greetings go out to Sean Nixon who will be celebrating a birthday June 22, to Erin Henniger who will celebrate a birthday June 23, to Tessie Fullerton whose birthday is June 27.
