The Battle of the Two Trees
Thursday, June 21, 2012 • Posted June 21, 2012

It was our fault because when we planted the little trees in our yard years ago to close together. One was a pecan and the other a non bearing mulberry. Right away the mulberry took off and grew but the pecan was much slower. Over time the mulberry provided a lot of shade, so much that it kept the pecan form growing very well. We finally had to trim the mulberry back or the pecan tree was going to die. This year for the first time the pecan tree is healthier and has outgrown the mulberry tree. We have to keep the mulberry in check like, very little water and no fertilizer. Those two trees remind me of something in the Bible. There is a battle going on inside of every Christian because the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit dwells in us but there also dwells the spirit of the old nature or natural man, (1 John 2:15-17, 2 Peter 2:9-22). These two spirits are at war with each other and there will never be peace until physical death or we are changed at the Coming of the Lord, (Galatians 5:13-25, 1 Thessalon-ians 4:13-18). It all depends which spirit we yield to as to which dominates our life, (Matthew 7:17, 3:8). By not yielding to the flesh and yielding to the Holy Spirit we hinder the growth and power of the flesh. See you in Church next Sunday.
